Guitar Hero Wii

I think I've hit one of the must-have games for any Wii owner that enjoys rock music. You get a physical "guitar" controller with this game, and it's amazingly fun!

It is one of the most enjoyable games for the Wii. You can download Guitar Hero III, from several sites. If you are going to download the game, make sure you get the guitar controller to play it, otherwise you will be playing thin air for sure. You hold the controller just like a real guitar, and it's switchable for left handed players. The neck of the guitar has 5 buttons on it that you play with your left hand. In the center of the guitar is a "strum" button that you hit to play the notes. There's even a metal bar to wiggle, to cause the notes to "bend" to give an extra crowd boost.

The basic game play of Guitar Hero III involves a track of notes that scroll in time to a soundtrack; you finger fret buttons on the guitar controller to make the notes and score points.

There are four difficulty levels. You start with easy of course, where it's great fun to play along with your favorite songs and just have fun. When you crank up to the higher levels - moving through various venues and unlocking different characters and guitars - the keys get VERY difficult. Still, it's a blast hammering away at the notes that appear on screen, waving your guitar around in the air and having fun. You hit the matching buttons, and a rock star is made. In Guitar Hero III, you'll be making the rock with one of the best soundtracks to be found in any rhythm game. The soundtrack covers multiple eras and genres. Classic rock is represented with songs such as Santana's "Black Magic Woman," the Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black," and ZZ Top's " La Grange ." Alternative rock from the '90s is present in a big way with tracks such as The Smashing Pumpkins' "Cherub Rock," Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Suck My Kiss" and Pearl Jam's "Evenflow" on-hand. Classic punk fans will love being able to play the Dead Kennedys' "Holiday in Cambodia ," Social Distortion's "Story of My Life," and the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK ." Modern rock hits such as Bloc Party's "Helicopter," The Killers' "When You Were Young" and Queens of the Stone Age's "3's and 7's" are also available. And for all the metalheads, you get major classics such as Slayer's "Raining Blood," Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" and

If you are thinking about downloading guitar hero for the Wii, make sure you checkout a reliable Wii download site, one that provides the game downloads legally. Most download sites have two pricing band: One is unlimited downloads for a fixed membership fee, and the other is paying for downloads. If you come unstuck looking for games that are hard to find in the stores, then these download sites can be an excellent alternative.

Some of these sites require you to install a downloader program. Be on your guard regarding sites that do this, as those downloader programs are well known avenues for spyware and malware that can infect your computer with viruses. Download guitar hero for wii can be a tricky process as the files are large with lots of musical sound tracks being it's currently the hottest game. If you're going to download guitar hero for wii, you'll need a lot of patience while it downloads.

Be sure to check it out, and make sure you have the right controllers for it! Guitar Hero III as the best tracklist of any Guitar Hero game to date, with lots of master tracks from the original bands and artists, with higher difficulty levels ensuring experienced players won't get bored too quickly.

That being said, you can usually get through an hour or two before your fingers really start to kill you. If you play with a group of friends, passing the guitar around between songs, that means an afternoon can go by before all of you end up with finger pain. I suppose it's a built in way to ensure that you don't play video games all day long.

Modern Version of Ancient Board Games

A number of games from long ago all still have a great basis for entertainment in today's culture. Simple designs allow for the game to be easily adaptable for modern players yet the crafting of the game lets it have a timeless entertainment. Many of these games simply use basic pieces and a simply designed board, but with the nature of the game and the competition of the fellow player, anyone can have a thrilling time. A number of games from many thousands of years ago can still be discovered today, available in modern editions with slightly redesigned formats.

One extremely popular classic game is the one of Chinese origin called Go. Using simple black and white tiles on a grid-faced board, players try to convert their opponent's pieces into their own color. This game has found life today as the game Othello. This game makes players think heavily into the strategy one needs to fully manipulate the board into the best possible position, however, for certain spaces are also a great advantage to the player who claims them.

Playing a piece on an edge space lowers the chances of the piece being changed for it offers less opportunities for an opponent to surround it. Othello offers players many options into different strategies and challenges them to think in a different way than other board games allow. It can be a great mental exercise and it is a very satisfying resolution to successfully win one of these games. All that Othello takes is a little careful planning and calculation, a good opponent, and the desire for a stimulating mental challenge for a good time to be had by all.

Another game that has lasted through the ages is Parcheesi, with origins tracing back to India from as far back as 500 BC. Officially considered to be the national game of India, Pachisi found its way into the world and officially joined American culture in 1874, when a game manufacturer registered the trademark of the game which is now known as Parcheesi. The game became highly popular in America, as it is the entire world, and it is no wonder why. With easy to learn rules and a number of employable strategies, Parcheesi is a game that will never be the same twice.

Each player starts the game by choosing a color and placing their four colored tokens in the designated home space on the board. The intended object of the game is to move all of the pawns from the home space along the path of the board into the central ending space. The game is not as easy as simply rolling high numbers on the dice and moving along the path, however. Other players can capture pawns and send them back to the beginning "nest" space, forcing the player to begin the journey again for that pawn. The player who captures a pawn is also rewarded for their effort, for any time that one player sends another player's pawn back to the nest, that player is rewarded with 20 additional movement points to be used at the end of a turn. This game allows players to become highly competitive, racing against each other for victory, and this provides even modern players with the chance for great enjoyment.

Star Wolf and Falco Clones of Star Fox in Super Smash Bros Brawl

Fans of Smash Bros have been complaining about one thing more than anything else when Melee was released. It was an issue about clones "duplicate characters". Like Dr. Mario to Mario, Pichu to Pikachu, Roy to Marth, Ganon to Captain Falcon.. etc.

One of the Clone pairs that returned are Star Fox and Falco. Except in this game Nintendo completely changed Falco's moves. Falco can now throw his Down-B reflector. Nintendo stated that Falco's attacks are more air oriented when Fox's attacks are more ground oriented. It is the players preference as an aerial fighter or a ground combatant.

Fox was featured with a faster laser in the last game while Falco's is slower and stuns. They changed around the lasers again to make them different. Both Fox and Falco feature the Landmaster Tank as the Final Smash. Fox's Landmaster Tank is stronger on the ground while Falco's Tank can fly very high to take the opponents sky high to their deaths. They are both devastating final smash moves though despite being slightly different.

Another character from the Star Fox series that makes a first appearance is Star Wolf. He is the final unlocked character in Smash Bros and has a very well rounded move set. He also features the Landmaster Tank. His Landmaster Tank Final Smash a cross between Fox's and Falco's Landmaster Tanks.

All Playable Star Fox characters retain the same cocky personalities as seen in there taunts. Fox was rated the best character overall in Melee but he was watered down in Brawl to even out the playing fields of characters. Star Wolf could possibly be top of the rated characters. He was a highly anticipated character from Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures games and fans hoped he would make an appearance in Brawl. So the only thing "clone like" about Fox, Falco, and Star Wolf is the same Final Smash. Nintendo managed to remove the problem which is clones successfully in the Smash Bros sequel.

Axis and Allies - From Board Game to RTS

The Axis and Allies series includes the best WWII strategy board games available. So if you like those, then TimeGate Studio's Axis and Allies (for the PC) is a definite must have. This version keeps the board game's world map and gameplay, but adds to it with great RTS play. Choosing between Great Britain, the U.S., the Soviet Union, Germany, and Japan, you must attempt to conquer the world. But if you don't like the idea of moving a couple pieces around a board, then there are plenty of other options for gameplay.

In Axis and Allies (A&A), you take the command of an army corps. From your Corps HQ, you can deploy infantry, mechanized, armored, and airborne divisions. Each Division HQ allows the requisition of three to six regiments of several different types. Regiments usually consist of five to nine infantry, halftracks, or tanks. Units are realistically employed, with realistic weapons, but balance is still kept between the different nations. Also available are engineer and artillery brigades, and motor pools, which unlock additional units and provide useful technologies. Engineers can repair buildings as well as construct static defenses. Airfields are available once all brigades are deployed, allowing you to order powerful airstrikes on your enemy. Naval units are not producible, but are available in some missions.

Balancing resources involves accumulating money as well as keeping an income of ammunition and oil. Money is accumulated and spent, while ammo and oil is needed for the upkeep of divisions, and a deficit means less money income. Keeping units in supply is vital, since they will automatically repair and get reinforcements. Experience and entrenchment add to their capabilities, different formations and terrain affect their attack efficiency, and morale keeps them fighting. Keeping track of these variables is not difficult thanks to an effective layout. The AI will also keep you on your feet, pressing to find weaknesses, and then thrusting whole divisions at your lines. While the presentation is not up to some of today's high standards, combat can become extremely chaotic and enjoyable. You gain experience points at a constant rate, which increases when in combat, and can then be used to purchase certain powers like increased supplies, saboteurs, and carpet bombings.

If you enjoy the board game's gameplay, then you will enjoy hearing that it carried over to A&A on the PC nicely. You control a nation, using money to buy armies and technology, and then move your armies into different territories to capture them. You can take as many uncontested territories as you want, but each nation gets only one attack per turn. These battles can either be handled by the AI, or controlled by the player in an RTS match. But if you don't like the grand strategy element, then there are other options. A campaign is available which puts you in historical battles, each quite lengthy with a healthy amount of difficulty. Both the Axis and Allied powers have different campaigns, with the Axis version ending in victory for Germany and Japan (leading to obviously fictitious missions). There is also a custom mission editor, and a skirmish mode that puts up to eight players on a random map. Multiplayer communities still exist, with many player-made maps available. So, there are other choices for gameplay.

A&A is another aging, but still highly playable game, and can be found for quite a bargain. For WWII RTS enthusiasts, it is a great strategy game to pick up. The ability for both grand and operational strategy play makes A&A quite unique. I highly suggest checking it out for new and old strategy gamers. Whether you want to build your own army and invade Japan, or find out what could have happened if Germany had repulsed the Allies in Normandy, Axis and Allies can deliver great gameplay time and time again.
